Making A Referral

 

You can refer online or call to make a referal. Once you have completed your referral, someone will call you back within a few days and make an Initial Appointment. This will normally take place within two weeks, depending on the client's availability.

 

Initial Appointment

 

The Initial Appointment will usually be undertaken by one of our trained support workers and takes approximately 30 minutes, this will give us the chance to find out more about you and the issues you would like to deal with and your availability. We have a large number of counsellors with a range of therapies available and this initial talk will help us decide on the best counsellor for your particular circumstance. It will also give us the opportunity to tell you about how we work and what we may expect from one another.

 

Having an Initial Appointment does not oblige you to go on to counselling. If you decide not to take it up, all we ask is that you let us know

 

Your Counselling

 

As soon as you have made your referral you will already begin to move up the waiting list. Please contact us to find out what the currant waiting time is. Once a counsellor becomes available, you will be contacted with the date and time, which will be your regular slot each week. You will be given up to 12 hour long sessions in the first instance. If you have to cancel an appointment, we need at least 24 hours notice and you are allowed 2 cancellations. If you do not show for an appointment, you may lose your place.

 

Sometimes it takes two or three sessions to build a trusting relationship with a therapist and we ask that you give it time to develop. However, BCS works as an organisation to support our clients and if you really feel that you are not making progress, we urge you to Contact us and we will make every effort to improve the quality of your counselling experience.

 

We will collect a CORE score at the beginning of each counselling session to measure your general well being and collect feedback at the end of therapy to help us maintain quality and improve our service.
